14 States in 5 Days!
Now that's a road trip!
Camille and I met during our time serving as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Puerto Rico. Within the first day of meeting one another, it was obvious that we would become more like sisters.
The day we were put together as companions |
Please excuse our lack of style and slicked back hair. it was probably around 100 degrees that day. |
During our 3 months as companions, we vowed that when our time as missionaries had come to an end, we would road trip across the United States together. This plan included visiting her beloved Rehoboth Beach in Delaware (she is from VA),
therefore we called our plan,
"Dreaming of Delaware".
Puerto Rico was way too good to us <3 |
-Fast forward 13 months-
Just a month after Camille finished her mission, I was on a plane to Virginia faster than you can say dreaming of Delaware and off we went! I mean sure, I encountered a few set backs like delayed flights and a deathly cold, but those 40+ hours on the road were greater than most things I can think of.
TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Like I mentioned before, I experienced a few delayed flights, but that didn't stop me from having a great time. I have no shame getting cozy in an airport. *fun fact* I actually LOVE airports #peoplewatcher
VIRGINIA
Arriving in VA was like coming home. The humid air. The buzzing city. I love everything about it. The best part of all, is that Camille and her family live there!
We were blessed to stay in the jaw dropping home of my adopted grandparents. Cozy, classy and extremely comfortable.
After a day of family time and Sunday worship, we set off on our grand adventure. (and as you can see we are ecstatic)
MARYLAND
Our first stop was one of my favorite places in the world, Annapolis, Maryland. If you haven't gone there, GO! Visit the harbors, shops and explore the beautiful old town city full of many wonderful sights.
It has my last name so of course a picture was necessary |
DELAWARE
My first time to Delaware was magical! I loved driving through the beautiful green fields that go on for miles and the light fog that sits on top of all of the lakes and ponds. Oh. and OF COURSE the BEACH!
The boardwalk shops! |
I should have bought this cat dress. It was amazing |
I love Rehoboth! |
Bad picture, but Nicola Pizza was a 10/10. |
NEW JERSEY
After our lovely time in DW it was time to head to PA for the Philadelphia LDS temple open house! We decided to take a small tour through New Jersey to get there. Please enjoy the car selfies and just selfies in general.
This is why I will ALWAYS need a sunroof |
PENNSYLVANIA
Okay, this was BY FAR the most beautiful state to drive through on the entire trip! Lush green trees, fields
Philadelphia Temple! Where families can receive the promise of being with each other for all time AND eternity! |
My first ever phili-cheese-steak IN Philadelphia ;) OHIO/INDIANA |
Honestly, we didn't do or see much in Ohio or Indiana(unfortunately) because we were on a tight schedule. However, I will never forget how nice it was to check into that hotel. After a very long day in our car, a couple hours in the hot tub were needed.
calling my first taxi |
WISCONSIN TO GET TO THE MALL OF AMERICA (MINNESOTA)
Yes... we took almost a 7 hour detour to visit the Mall of America. Camille was such a good sport. I was a winey driving companion the whole time because of my terrible cold. The mall was amazing though. IT IS SO HUGE.
SOUTH DAKOTA/WYOMING/HOME!(UT)
We finished our trip off by getting to see the famous MT. Rushmore and it was 200% worth it. By the time we hit the long stretch through Wyoming we were more than ready to crash. THIS WAS A TRIP TO REMEMBER!
So if all you did was start at the top, scroll through the pictures and then read this, the moral of the story is take that spontaneous step and DRIVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY SOME DAY :D
xoxo,
Morgan
